Trust in the Lord and do good; so shall you dwell in the land and feed surely on His faithfulness, and truly you shall be fed. Psalm 37:3, Amplified
There are many “trust” verses in the Bible. Although they are great verses, often times they tell you to trust but they don’t tell you how. . .
The great thing about Psalm 37:3 is that it tells you to trust and then it shows you how.
- Trust in the Lord.
To trust in the Lord means that you lean and rely upon Him rather than on yourself. You place your confidence in the fact that He knows what you are going through and is working on your behalf. One of the ways to trust is to
2. Feed on His faithfulness.
Imagine an all you can eat buffet. There are many things you could choose to feed upon. Yet, not every choice is a good or healthy one. The same is true for your soul. There are many things your soul can choose to feed upon – doubt, worry, anxious thoughts, fear, anger, self-pity, faith, goodness, truth, etc …
To choose to feed on His faithfulness means you rehearse God’s faithfulness over and over again in your mind. You remember how God has been faithful to you in the past. You meditate on the character traits of God to give you hope that He will be faithful to you over and over again.
3. You shall be fed.
You will be full of whatever you feed upon. So let me ask you, friend, what are you feeding upon? What are you allowing to dwell in your heart and your mind? Often all that’s needed is a tiny shift in perspective to begin feeding on the right things which allows your trust in God to grow and grow.
Trust in the Lord by feeding on His faithfulness and you will be full!
