Psalm 145:13 was my memory verse for April 15th. I was supposed to choose a new one for May 1st, but I am having a hard time letting go of Psalm 145, because it is so beautiful and meaningful to me.
First of all, I am so grateful that God is timeless and never changes. His kingdom “endures through all generations”. I have been experiencing lots of change lately, personally, in our family and in our church. Change is hard, because it makes me feel a little unsure. Yet, it is reassuring to know that even if everything around me changes, God remains the same. I take great comfort in that truth!
Next, this verse says that the Lord is “trustworthy in all He promises”. Have you ever had someone say something to you and wondered if you could believe them? Maybe someone paid you a compliment, but really they just wanted something from you in return. Or maybe they told you a story that just seemed too good to be true.
Have you had people in your life that weren’t completely trustworthy? Maybe a close friend says they want to spend time with you but you can never seem to connect. Or your husband says he will be home from work at a certain time, but you know to add a half hour to the time he told you. No matter how good-hearted your friends and family are, they are human and therefore they are not 100% trustworthy.
I find that I often transfer the untrustworthiness of others onto God. It is hard to wrap your mind around Someone being 100% trustworthy, 100% of the time, isn’t it? Yet, according to this verse (and many others in the Bible) God is trustworthy in ALL He promises! Every single promise He has made He will deliver on! Every. Single. Time.
What promise are you standing upon right now? If you haven’t seen it come to complete fruition, keep trusting. Your God is trustworthy!
In addition to God keeping His promises, Psalm 145:3 also promises that God is faithful in all He does. I think one of the reasons I have been so attached to this verse is because I have been regularly noticing God’s faithfulness these past couple of weeks. By the way, God is always faithful; we just don’t always recognize His faithfulness.
I have seen His faithfulness in the following ways:
- Very specific answers to prayer for not only one, but both of my children and their friends.
- In relationships where things could have gone bad, but God turned it around for good.
- In growth in my life and others lives as well.
- God’s provision of resources, abilities and time.
- God’s protection of my heart through various circumstances.
Even when it seems like things are falling apart, God is faithful in the middle of it all. He can take anything that happens in life and turn it around for good. In fact (according to Romans 8:28) that’s His specialty!
Are you looking for God’s faithfulness? Are you praying for eyes to recognize Him at work? That’s a prayer He loves to answer. God loves to show off for those who are looking for Him to show up!
God never changes. His kingdom endures forever. He is trustworthy in all He promises and faithful in all He does. May this truth be an encouragement to you today!
Your Friend in Ministry,
