James 1:19

I sure love the still, quiet mornings when I can read God’s Word in preparation for a busy day!  Here are my notes from today’s reading in James 1:19.  (See previous post for our summer reading plan.)  Although, this verse is one I memorized a while ago, it still gets to me every time!  Maybe because it is so practical and something I can relate to in every season of my life.  I have heard it said that God gave us two ears and only one mouth because He wants to listen more than we speak.  I think that’s what James is trying to say here.  Thankfully, God has given us the Holy Spirit as one of His good and perfect gifts (James 1:17) and when you allow the Holy Spirit to work within you, one of the outcomes is self-control.  Self-control is what allows us to be slow to speak and slow to become angry.

James 1 19

I pray you and I, both, will have this verse actively working in our lives today, so don’t be surprised if you have an opportunity to practice!
